Who are we?

Education is Key Learning Academy was founded by Erin Long Stitts in 2023. After spending 16 years in the classroom, Mrs. Erin decided it was time for a change. Not wanting to give up on her passion and purpose, she decided to continue impacting learners through one-on-one and small group instruction. The creation of Education is Key Learning Academy was a way for her to pay homage to Nelson Mandela’s idea of education being the most powerful weapon that can be used to change the world. The world is full of opportunities, and Mrs. Erin, like Nelson Mandela, truly believes that the key to experiencing many of those opportunities is education. Thus, Education is Key Learning Academy was created to endorse the value of education, equip learners with the knowledge needed to garner success, and encourage learners to use the knowledge gained to unlock the doors to their futures. The academy works with learners to not only build their academic self-confidence and support their ongoing academic growth but to also ensure they are weaponized enough to change the world around them while being productive members of society.

Who is our founder?

Erin Long Stitts is a native Memphian and product of Memphis City Schools. She graduated from University of Tennessee Knoxville with a Bachelor of Arts in English. After graduation, Erin enrolled at Christian Brothers University and received a Masters in Teaching and teaching certification in Elementary Education. Erin began her traditional educator journey at local private schools created to serve marginalized communities. Always desiring to learn more, Erin received a Masters of Education in Reading from Harding University which taught her about the science of reading while equipping her with the necessary tools to identify learners’ reading deficits and develop plans to address those deficits.

For 16 school years, Erin passionately provided high quality instruction in urban education learning environments for private, public, and charter schools. She has been very intentional about educating the whole child while meeting learners where they are. In addition to being a classroom educator, Erin extended her reach to more students and families by creating and facilitating school-wide programs such as Family Literacy Night. As a level 4 and 5 teacher, Erin also served as Department Chair, Mentor Teacher, and Multi-Classroom Leader.

After providing one-on-one instructional support in a part-time capacity for 7 years, Erin transitioned from being a traditional educator to being a private educator as the founder and chief instructor of Education is Key Learning Academy in 2023. Erin's passion for education continues as she is a true believer that education is the KEY; it is the most powerful weapon that we can use to change the world. Because of her passion and beliefs, she hopes her work through Education is Key will impact countless learners as she strives to be the change she wishes to see in the world.

What do we offer?

Homework Support

Starting at $45 for 60 minutes

These sessions provide guidance and support to learners as they complete homework and/or projects. Reteaching and remediation are provided on an as-needed basis.

Homeschool Academic Guide

Contact for pricing

These sessions can be one-on-one or small group to provide instruction and support that is aligned with a homeschool curriculum chosen by the guardian.

Test Preparation

$60 for 60 minutes

These sessions provide learners with test taking strategies as well as opportunities to complete practice tests and receive feedback. Reteaching and remediation of standards and skills are provided on an as-needed basis.

Academic Action Plan

$25 per week

The action plan provides continued daily practice for learners to hone their skills outside of tutoring sessions.

Diagnostic Assessment

Starts at $150 for 90 minutes

An individualized assessment is given to determine the learner's instructional level. The assessment results are analyzed to identify deficit areas and to develop a instructional plan to address deficits.

In-Person Tutoring Sessions

Starting at $45 for 60 minutes

Individualized instruction is provided to address deficit areas as well as grade level standards. ELA tutoring sessions, inclusive of reading, writing, and language arts, are offered to individuals from ages 5-100. Math tutoring sessions are offered to individuals from Kindergarten to 8th grade.

Virtual Tutoring Sessions

Starting at $50 for 60 minutes

Individualized instruction is provided in ELA and/or Math and offered online via Zoom.
